LODI, CA: More than 20 local leaders in agriculture – including farmers, ranchers, and current and former elected officials – have endorsed Ricky Gill in his campaign for U.S. Congress. The endorsers represent a broad cross-section of the strongly agricultural 9th Congressional District, where Gill was born and raised.
“Ricky Gill knows agriculture,” said endorser John Ledbetter of Vino Farms. “He will work tirelessly to ensure that the farmers and ranchers of the 9th District are represented in Washington, where they’ve been neglected for far too long.”
In response to the endorsements, Gill reaffirmed his commitment to rejuvenating agriculture in the Valley-Delta region encompassed by the 9th District. “I am humbled and honored to have the support of these respected leaders in agriculture,” said Gill. “This district’s next representative in Congress must embrace agriculture, which is a vital component of our local economy and an important source of jobs. That is why I intend to make agriculture a signature issue of my campaign.”
The following agriculture leaders endorsed Gill:
• Bill Berryhill, California State Assembly Member and winegrape grower
• Leroy Ornellas, San Joaquin County Supervisor and dairy farmer
• Greg Aghazarian, former California State Assembly Member
• Jack Sieglock, former San Joaquin County Supervisor and former Lodi Mayor
• Mark Chandler, Mokelumne River Partners
• Steve and Jeanne Coldani, Coldani Farms/Coldani Olive Ranch
• Barbara Coldani, Coldani Farms/Coldani Olive Ranch
• Jerry Fry, Mohr-Fry Ranches
• Gail Kautz, Ironstone Vineyards
• Brad Lange, LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards
• Randy Lange, LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards
• Charlene Lange, LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards
• John Ledbetter, Vino Farms
• Craig Ledbetter, Vino Farms
• Rudy Maggio, Oak Ridge Winery
• Fred Podesta, Podesta Farms
• Don Reynolds, M&R Packing
• Richard Samra, Phillaur Corporation
• Kevin Sanguinetti, Sanguinetti Farms
• Mark and Gayle Shimozaki, Shimozaki Farms
• Pat Stockar, Stockar Ranch/South River Ranch
• Robert Tanaka, Tanaka Land Company
Gill campaign consultant James Fisfis noted that the breadth of Gill’s endorsements contrasted starkly with those of incumbent Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton. “Jerry McNerney is out of touch with the agricultural roots of the 9th District,” said Fisfis. “Given that he is moving more than 60 miles from the East Bay to the San Joaquin Valley, it isn’t surprising that McNerney would attempt to import his endorsements as well.”
