Paul Grewal
SAN FRANCISCO, CA: The South Asian Bar Association of Northern California (SABA-NC) member Paul Grewal has been selected as one of the recipients of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) “Best Under 40″ award.
The “Best Under 40″ award is given each year to applaud talented individuals within the Asian Pacific American legal community from around the country who have achieved prominence in their field and at the same time “demonstrated a strong commitment to civic or community affairs.” Paul Grewal has had a distinguished legal career, the youngest attorney ever promoted to partner at the law firm of Day Casebeer LLP, where he specialized in complex litigation and intellectual property matters. Grewal has been a partner at Howrey LLP since 2009. He serves as the Recruiting Partner for Howrey’s East Palo Alto office and is a member of Howrey’s Intellectual Property Senior Leadership Group.
Grewal maintains an active pro bono practice, including working with Community Legal Services of East Palo Alto, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Environmental Literacy Project.
Throughout his career, Grewal has been an active leader in the Asian Pacific American legal community. Grewal has served as President and Vice-President of SABA-NC, and President and Vice President of the North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA). NASABA awarded Grewal with its highest honor, the Cornerstone Award, in recognition of his years of work to promote the goals of NASABA and SABA-NC including promoting the professional development of the South Asian legal community through networking, education, advocacy and mentoring; ensuring the civil liberties of the South Asian community; and serving the legal interests of the South Asian community and the community at large.”
Given the caliber of the other winners of this award, it was an honor even to be considered” Grewal said when he learned he was selected.
SABA-NC co-president Hozefa Botee applauded the award, noting “It’s great to see Paul’s hard work recognized at a national level by as prominent an organization as NAPABA.” Grewal, along with the other recipients of the “Best Under 40″ award will be recognized at the NAPABA Annual Convention in Los Angeles, California, November 17-21.
