MILPITAS, CA: Over 400 people from across the Bay area and beyond celebrated the Maha Shivratri program held by the Brahma Kumaris Silicon Valley Meditation Center (BK) at the Jain Center, Milpitas, California on Saturday, February 22.

One of the highlights of the evening was the drama, “Paradise Reborn”, that entertained the audience resulting in plenty of laughter. The drama was written, produced, directed and performed by the BK Brothers and Sisters. It depicted how a serene and happy human life in the Satyug (Golden Age) goes through the degradation to the constantly stressful life created by the struggle with greed, attachment, ego, anger and lust in today’s Kalyug (Iron Age).

The drama was preceded by a beautiful Kathak dance performed by an elementary school student Diya Bose-Malakar. The dance was followed by an inspirational talk by Sister Kusum of the BK center in which she covered meditation, the difference between Satyug and Kalyug, and the relationship between fate and karma.

She pointed out the importance of the celebration of Maha Shivratri as the representation of reincarnation of Lord Shiva on the 14th night of the new moon during the dark half of the month of Phalguna (Feb / March). The event was exclusively covered by IndTVUSA Media house for TV and online webcasting.

The event was graced by the Mayor of Milpitas, Mr. Jose Esteves, Steve Pangelinan, Chief of Police for the City of Milpitas, Robert Mihovich, the acting Fire Chief for the City of Milpitas, Dr Romesh Japra, Convener & Chairman of Federation of Indian Associations and several other community leaders.

The program started with a light vegetarian dinner and ended with the special blessings, Prasad and gift by Sister Kusum to all attendees.
