Chacha Chaudhary creator Pran is no more

chahc (1)Cartoonist Pran Kumar Sharma who made childhood memorable for a majority of Indians with his funny characters and adventurous comic books passed away on August 6 at the age of 75. Pran’s two characters Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu especially became very popular. Chacha Chaudhary comic books were adapted for television.

Chacha Chaudhary: Chacha Chaudhary was a tiny man with a brain that was faster than a computer. With a very recognizable red turban and white mustache, Chacha Chaudhary’s character is etched in our minds forever.

Sabu: Another iconic character from the comic book series was Sabu. Sabu was from the planet Jupiter and they said that whenever he got angry, a volcano in Jupiter surely erupted. Sabu is described as someone who is very tall and exceptionally strong.

Chachi: Chacha Chaudhary’s wife in the comic series loves her husband, dotes on Sabu but at the same time gets angry with the duo for their dangerous antics at the drop of a hat. While Chachaji is stick thin, his wife is quite plump.

Pinki: Apart from the Chacha Chaudhary series, there are some other characters that Pran created that became very popular. A comic book series on Pinki was amongst them. Pinki is this young girl with a short blunt haircut and wears her matching hairband according to the color of her dress. While she is good at heart, Pinki usually makes funny blunders and goes on correcting them in the stories.

Billu: While Pinki was a famous character, another floppy haired guy named Billu gained popularity as well. Billu was easy to identify with his messy hair that always covered his eyes. He was funny and smart but would also end up in goofy situations most of the times.

Raka: Sabu and Chacha Chaudhary usually fight a large number of criminals but they mostly have a permanent villain ‘Raka’ always lurking in the corner. Raka is strong and powerful but Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu always manage to score over him.

Rocket: A Chacha Chaudhary adaptation is incomplete without his dog ‘Rocket.’
