Produced by the New York based IFC, Miss India New York is the oldest Indian pageant outside of India. The pageant draws never-married contestants of Indian origin between the ages of 17 and 27. The Miss Teen section accepts contestants in the age group 13-17.
The contestants participated in Indian attire, evening gown, and talent segments. Miss India New York is different from other pageants as there is no swim suit segment. Emphasis is placed on the talent and promotion of Indian culture and heritage.
The winner of Miss India New York will represent the state in the Thirtieth Miss India USA pageant on Nov 20 at the Royal Albert’s Palace in New Jersey. The winner of the Miss India USA will represent USA in the Twenty First Miss India Worldwide pageant on February 25, 2012 in Suriname. Miss India Worldwide in Suriname is being supported by the President and Government of Suriname.
