CHICAGO: Hindu temples across Chicagoland celebrated Mahashivratri with great enthusiasm this time.

CHICAGO: Hindu temples across Chicagoland celebrated Mahashivratri with great enthusiasm this time. The temples involved were Manav Seva Mandir, Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago, Swaminarayan Temples, Gayatri Gyan Mandir and Gayatri Shaktipeeth, Balaji Temple and Radhe Shyam Mandir.

The biggest attraction was at Manav Seva Mandir where a five feet Shiv Ling- a replica of Amarnath Shiv Ling- was created from ice. The place was thick with enthusiastic devotees who performed abhishek and rituals guided by Dr C.L. Shashtri, one of the most revered Acharyas in Chicagoland.

In Wheeling Swaminaryan temple, over 800 devotees had flocked to be part of Shiv pujan done by the temple Swamis. The celebration was also at Itasca Swminarayan temple. Hindu Temple of Lake country, situated 40 miles from Chicago, had commenced ceremony right from 10 in the morning and it went on till midnight. Hindu Temple of Peoria and Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago too had grand celebrations.
