CHICAGO: Indicorps,  a non-partisan, non-religious, non-profit organization that encourages Indians around the world to actively participate in India's progress, has recently  announced over 30 new competitive projects for the August 2009 Fellowship.
Fellows will have an opportunity for real world application of entrepreneurial training in projects teaching village women to optimize business processes, creating micro-enterprises with farmers, or encouraging local entrepreneurship as a means of self employment.
Projects span from Kanpur to Pondicherry, Gujarat to Madhya Pradesh. As a total immersion leadership program, Indicorps encourages Fellows to explore their role as a catalyst for change while reconnecting with their homeland.
Indicorps' programs are designed to build principled leadership, empower visionaries, inspire collective action, and unite India towards a common vision for the nation by productively engaging Indians around the world with the development of the country that defines their identity. It announces its annual fellowship program offering prestigious grassroots public service fellowships to implement sustainable development projects with community based organizations across India.
Nearly 100 young Indian leaders from the U.S., UK, Canada, South Africa, and Australia have completed the Fellowship and have since gone on to medical, business, and law school as well as other graduate program and corporate positions. Fellowship projects promote both personal growth and collective action towards a secular India that is inclusive, peaceful and participatory.
The goal is to foster the next generation of young leaders who are willing to challenge themselves and the change. Program requires a minimum commitment of one year.
