Dr. Vinod Shah is new AAPI President
NEW YORK: Dr. Vinod K. Shah will take over as President of the Asian American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) from current president Dr. Sanku Rao during the annual AAPI convention to be held in Orlando June 10-14.
Dr. Shah is an active member for past many years and served AAPI in various capacities. He is chairman & CEO of a multi-specialty group of 95 physicians in Maryland. A resident of Washington DC suburb for 42 years, Dr. Shah is politically well connected and participated in many state legislative initiatives. Dr Shah and his wife Dr. Ila Shah, a pediatrician, are very active in Rotary Foundation, local schools, colleges, hospitals and other charitable organizations in the US and India.
Dr. Ajeet R. Singhvi will be the new President-elect for the year 2009-2010. A Board certified in Internal Medicine, gastroenterology and geriatrics, Dr. Singhvi is now practicing gastroenterologist in Hemet, California.
The new vice president Dr. Sunita Kanumury is a New Jersey resident and a diplomate American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Narendra R. Kumar, currently treasurer, is taking over as AAPI secretary.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Wound Management, and in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, Dr. Jayesh B. Shah is the new AAPI Treasurer. Dr. Sanat Gandhi, a member of the Board of Trustees of AAPI is taking over a Chair of Board of Trustees from Dr. Rajendra Gupta at the convention.
