DETROIT: A successful urologist from Michigan, Dr Anil B. Kumar wears many hats – a caring doctor, a successful small businessman, a hardworking community activist, and a committed teacher. He is now set to add one more feather in his cap.

He is seeking Congressional seat from 11th Congressional District in Michigan (a largely suburban area just outside of Detroit) as he believes that he is obligated to give back to Michigan contributing his experience and knowledge for the betterment of the lot of average Michigan families.

Pitching a strong battle in a largely Republican-heavy area, Dr Anil is contesting on Democratic ticket. He exudes confidence as he has faith in himself and still bigger faith in the voters who would send him to the Congress basing their judgment on his record as a medical professional, a successful businessman and a family caring person
For the last decade, Anil has served as president of a surgical center in Rochester Hills. In addition to serving his patients, Anil also manages a small business and teaches at Michigan State University. Anil is deeply involved with community activities and is – most importantly – a family man.

“We live in the best time of history and this is because of the people before us, who sacrificed and worked hard to build this nation. We need to not only preserve it but rather we must improve it through collaborative efforts.

It is unacceptable that our representatives in Washington D.C. refuse to work together,” Dr Anil Kumar says.

Kumar is facing ,at least one other Democrat, Bobby McKenzie, a resident of the Canton Township in Wayne County who announced his intention to run in 2014. The winner will face the incumbent Congressman Kerry Bentivolio, a Republican who got elected in a special election in 2012. It may not be a cake walk for Kerry Nentivolio as he is already facing.

Born in Jaipur but raised in Mumbai, Kumar had his medical degree from the University of Mumbai. Before coming to USA, he moved to England.

He completed his residency at Wayne State University, located in Detroit. He has been practicing for 33 years, has at least eight practice locations in an around Rochester Hills, and roughly 25 professional affiliations. He is head member of the Oakland Physicians Medical Center LLC and was formerly a board member of the Oakland County Medical Society. The elections are scheduled on Tuesday, November 4.
