Dr Mamta Joshi enthralls with Sufi music

FREMONT: Bay area witnessed the peaceful calmness of Sufi music and soulful notes of Dr Mamta Joshi last month. Dr Mamta Joshi, a renowned Sufi singer with a Ph.D in music hails from Chandigarh, India. She performed two magnificent live performances in her maiden USA tour. Influenced by different cultures over the course of time and history, Sufi music is a musical rite of passage used for self-awareness of body and soul that helps to understand life.

The concert was organized by Dr Harmesh Kumar, Beats of Life Entertainment, LLC. The Bay area concert was held at Sunnyvale Hindu Temple on July 20. The event was sponsored by Master Deepak, KLOK Radio 1170 AM and Raj Bhanot of Sunnyvale Hindu Temple to raise funds for flood victims of Uttarakhand tragedy.

Dr Mamta had a passion for singing from the age of nine. She has won six gold medals in major singing competitions in India and has performed for the Prime Minister of India, Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana along with major festivals in Bollywood, Punjab and India.

She is working as Head of Music Department and Professor in Govt. College for Men in Chandigarh, India. The audience was so enthralled with Dr Mamta Joshi’s singing that the concert lasted over four hours.

Dr Harmesh Kumar thanked the audience and media for making the program a grand success. Sufi music is popular all over the world for its healing touch. He added healing power of music goes beyond psychological benefits, helping physiological problems as well. Master Deepak thanked Dr Mamta Joshi for her enthralling and divine performance.
