Ex-lovers Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor have been re-united for ‘Udta Punjab’. After Emraan Hashmi walked out of the role, Shahid has been signed to play the male lead. Ayushmann Khurrana has been signed for the second male lead and Alia Bhatt has been approached for the second female lead.
Kareena and Shahid won’t be paired opposite one another but they would be sharing screen space. Alia Bhatt will be paired opposite her ‘Shandaar’ actor. Kareena will be donning a different role. The film will be directed by ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ director Abhishek Chaubey’. It was his unique idea to bring the ex-lovers on-screen.
A leading publication quoted a source as saying, “It is true that Kareena is being considered for a role in the film. However, she is not meant to be sharing screen space with Sasha. The ‘Shandaar’ pair – Alia Bhatt and Shahid – is likely to be cast opposite one another in this project. Abhishek apparently even met her for the same.”
Shahid and Kareena were last seen together in the 2007 film ‘Jab We Met’.
