CHICAGO: If you enjoy the Sufi and bhajan genre of Indian songs, if you want to network with successful people of the Indian community, you should attend Federation of Indian Association hosted Grand Diwali Mela on October 1at Renaissance Convention Center in Schaumburg, a northwest suburb of Chicago.

“We have something for everyone,” FIA Founder President Sunil Shah summed it up aptly. Local artists will start performing from noon. However, the concert will begin at 5 pm. The featured Bollywood melody queen Richa Sharma has given her playback voice to nearly 75 movies. “It’s Richa’s first visit to Chicago,” said FIA President Mukesh Shah. Her other US shows have been sold out, he added.

Richa made her debut in Bollywood with Sawan Kumar’s Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya in 1996 and followed it up by a number of films until the big hit came by in the form of Taal where she sang for A.R. Rahman. Thereafter a spate of hits followed.

FIA is organizing the Grand Diwali Mela in association with Indian Association of Greater Chicago. The event chairman is Deepak Kant Vyas, CEO of Redberri. Chief Guest will be Dr. Anil Oroskar and Dr Asha Oroskar, Chairpersons of Orochem. Guests of Honor are Anil Loomba, President of Home Mortgage Solutions, and Brij Sharma, Founder & President of PowerVolt.

About two dozen prominent local companies are sponsoring the event. Nearly 25 booths for food, jewelry, and ethnic costumes have been booked. Businesses that want to take advantage of the large crowd are encouraged to contact FIA immediately for booths and sponsorships.
