EL MONTE, CA: Over 100 devotees took part in a unique first of its kind ever performed in USA, Nimmajjan (immersion) of Lord Ganesha’s idol on September 19.
For nine days Pandit Samavedula Sharmaji of Vydic Yagna Center made a Sankalpa to celebrate Navarathri Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Daily tarpanam and evening chanting of 1008 names of Lord Ganesha followed by bhajans and prasad were held at Revelations Yoga and Vedanta Books Store, in El Monte. Owner Niren Rambhatla provided the space and took active part in daily rituals.
Several devotees had their gotras and names recited in daily prayers. On the 10th day, after doing the final concluding puja at Revelation Yoga Place, the deity of Lord Ganesha was transported to Long Beach, Dock 2 where the first of its kind immersion ceremony took place.
A chartered boat left Long Beach in to the ocean about six miles and there the Ganesha idol received Abhishekha with waters obtained from Gomukh, Gangotri, Haridwar, Kedarnath, Triveni Sangam, Cauvery and Mansarovar.
These waters and idol of Lord Ganesha with highly energized devotees saying Ganapati Bappa Maurya ended the event by immersing Ganeshji to Pacific Ocean waters and from there into the cosmic sphere.
Niren Rambhatla said that by being a part of such a historical event praying for world peace, Pacific Ocean has become purified by these holy river waters and will protect it from tsunami, terrorist acts and natural calamities.
This immersion festival will raise the cosmic consciousness, said Pandit Sharmaji.
Already many inspired devotees were talking about next year preparations, which was a testimonial to the great success of this event.
The Captain of the ship was very moved by the significance of Lord Ganesha’s powers especially removing obstacles and bestowing peace to all beings of the worlds and he felt very privileged to be the captain for this first ever historical peace mission event.
