SANTA CLARA, CA: Ace stand-up comedian Atul Khatri performed live at Santa Clara Convention Center Theater on August 3. With salt and pepper hair and strong eyebrows, the former CEO of a software company — which makes him an unlikely comedian — showcased the best of stand-up comedy from India.
The show was presented by Javanika entertainment and Bolly Events and was a sold out event. Atul, who finds comedy a creatively lucrative trade, continued to keep the audience in rapture with stories of his life. Having started his career in comedy in 2011 by posting jokes on Facebook, Atul has come a long way with over 500 comedy shows, television advertisements and YouTube videos under his belt. He has performed in some of the biggest international comedy festivals as well.

A Manchester Business School alumnus, Atul not only displayed wit and top-notch comedic timing but also engaged with the audience by asking questions and poking fun at them, resulting in impromptu jokes. CNN-IBN ranked Atul as one of the top 20 comedians in India to watch out for. He has also gained recognition after competing successfully against 11 other chief executive officers (CEOs) in the CEOs Got Talent by Fremantle Media in 2014.

Atul’s style of comedy is rather satirical and comes with a perspective of a Sindhi businessman of Mumbai. His jokes are for a slightly mature audience. He does not believe in mincing words and his jokes come straight from his experience as a 50-year-old living an urban busy life.

Talking to India Post, Jagruti Desai Shah, founder of Javanika Entertainment, said, “The sold-out first show of Atul Khatri’s US Tour was awesome. It has encouraged us to present more comedy shows to the lively communities of Bay area. ”
