
The Girn family of Wheeling Illinois at the Asian American Model Family award ceremonies hosted by Asian Chronicle USA TV Channel Program at Sheraton Four Points Hotel, in Schiller Park
CHICAGO: The Girn family of Wheeling Illinois, Balwinder Singh and Harminderpal Kaur Girn and their sons Amrit Singh and Gurpreet Singh were recently honored by Asian Chronicle USA TV Channel Program with an Asian American Humanitarian and Model Family Award.
Balwinder Singh Girn is the 2011 President of the Punjabi Cultural Society (PCS) of Chicago. He is also a Senior Project Manager at Northern Trust Bank in Chicago.
At Northern Trust Bank, Girn played a critical role in reestablishing Asian Leadership Business Resource Council (ALBRC), provides mentoring opportunities to ALBRC members and is member of the planning committee for Asian Heritage Month celebrations.
He is also an active member of North American Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) Chicago chapter.
The award ceremony took place at a dinner banquet at Sheraton Four Points Hotel, in Schiller Park, Illinois where more than 250 Asian Americans of Chicago attended the event.
The Asian Model Family Award is given annually by the Asian TV channel to the families which are cohesive role models for others to emulate, extend numerous civic and community services here and/or in their native countries, and they impact the positive image of Asians in America.
Balwinder Singh Girn born in Punjab immigrated to the US at the age of 12. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1989), Master of Science in Mathematics (1993), and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (1995) all from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Girn has extensive project and program management work experience in Manufacturing, Telecom, Consulting, I.T., and Financial Services in USA, Japan and Singapore.
Balwinder Singh’s wife, Harminderpal Kaur Girn is a training specialist for challenged persons, has been working for an Illinois based not-for-profit organization for the past 10 years. Their sons, Amrit Singh Girn and Gurpreet Singh Girn, are also dedicated volunteers for the community service programs.
