Gogoi flays Modi for auctioning gifts received from AssamJORHAT, Assam: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today flayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reportedly auctioning gifts received from the state, saying it is an “insult” to the society and people.

“I have not seen or heard of any Prime Minister earlier, who after receiving gifts extended by the people of the country, sells it or auctions it. It is an insult to the Assamese society and people of the state,” Gogoi told reporters here.

Modi has reportedly decided to put all the gift items received during his recent official visit to the state capital under the hammer.

The Prime Minister was presented a wooden rhino sculpture, gamosa, japi and seleng chaddar among other things symbolic of Assamese society.

“If it would have been for my case, I would have sent it to the regional museum,” the chief minister said.–PTI
