Freida Pinto hasn’t yet done a Bollywood movie. That’s perhaps why it is interesting that she had to be handheld by Michael Winterbottom to do a movie that brings her close to Bollywood.
The first look of ” Trishna”, a movie that gives a new spin to Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles against a contemporary Indian backdrop, has been revealed along with an official teaser that presents Freida and co-star – the British MC and musician – Riz Ahmed in a completely earthy avatar.
The actor, who was in India, is going to Toronto where the movie will be screened as a special presentation. Accompanying her on this trip is Winterbottom and Anurag Kashyap.
Meanwhile, Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya is excited with his Hollywood debut in Winterbottom’s movie that will also see Anurag and Kalki Koechlin make appearances. Did he choreograph Freida keeping in mind the moves he gives to Bollywood stars? “No,” Acharya says, adding, “She is a very good dancer and would be good for Bollywood song-and-dance movies. It’s unfortunate that she hasn’t yet done a Hindi movie.”
