Gujarati Bhavai coming to Chicago

CHICAGO: After successful shows in Brazil, Central America, twelve renowned artists from Gujarat, India will perform Gujarati acrobatic folk dance called Bhavai in Chicago.

Vishwa Gujarati Samaj is the local host and is supported by the Indian Consulate, Chicago. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is a sponsor from India. ICCR is promoting Gujarati arts, culture and heritage in honor of Golden Jubilee of Gujarat. The Chicagoland show is slated at Manav Seva Mandir, Bensenville, Illinois, on Saturday, November 13, at 8:00 p.m.

According to Vishwa Gujarati Samaj USA President Naren Patel, the Gujarati community is very excited and is eagerly waiting the Dhamakedar Program Bhavai shows here. The purpose of bringing Bhavai is to bring life into theatre and the theatre to life. It is the best of the best show. The artists are going all over the world and Chicagoans are lucky to have a first hand feel of Bhavai. Patel said the VGS office bearers and supporters like Mafat Patel, Dinesh Gandhi and Beena Patel are working hard to make the program a grand success. This program is not profit motivated but aimed at promoting Gujarati arts and culture.

Patel further said, “This is the kind performance that people will remember for years to come. If you were born in Gujarat, India, you must have seen these kind of performances. They say laughter is a good medicine for better health and we assure you a healthy dose of laughter.” ‘Ranglo’ is the nickname of the main character of Bhavai which is a very ancient folk theatre,

The tickets are only $10 because this is a Government Sponsored Program from ICCR, New Delhi and Indian Consulate of Chicago. Tickets are available at Sahil, Al Mansoor Video on Devon, Manav Seva Mandir, and Patel Brothers Schaumburg location only
