NEW DELHI: The Indian Dental Association (IDA) has announced the World Dental Show 2009, the largest dental show in India, from October 9 to 11, in Mumbai. Over 20,000 members of the dental fraternity are expected to attend and close to 500 stalls have already been booked.

The World Dental Show 2009 (WDS) is being promoted by Indian Trade Promotion Organisation, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs. WDS is one of the world's largest annual exhibitions of dental equipments, products and materials.

This year it promises to be a highly focused and specifically designed dental business event showcasing a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art products, services and innovative technologies that cater to the dental professionals around the globe.

The theme of WDS 2009 is "The Future of Dentistry is here to stay" to highlight the concept that the future of dentistry lies here, in India. The theme is further reinforced by the government's ambitious plan of 'Oral Health for All by 2020' which offers tremendous opportunities for the dental industry to grow.

IDA is also conducting a certification scientific program on Continuing Dental Education jointly with the University of California, San Francisco. Renowned speakers from the University of California will enlighten dental professionals on subjects of importance to their clinical practice in the rapidly changing dental universe.

Such a collaborative venture is expected to broaden the dental horizon of the participants, enhance their knowledge and skills, besides paving the way for improved patient care in a truly globalized environment.

Dr. Prof. John Featherstone, Dean, University of California, San Francisco, said, "The University of California, San Francisco is very happy to collaborate with the Indian Dental Association (IDA) for the certification program on Continuing Dental Education in India.

This, we are confident, will immensely help a significant number of dental professionals in India enhance their knowledge and upgrade their skills, thus leading the way to their professional advancement".

This world dental event is expected to see participation of close to 280 dental associations with 4000 dental students at the event to be held at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai.
