Health Transformations meet highlights importance of tele-medicine

IMG_6080FREMONT, CA: Silicon Valley Health Transformations 3.0 meet up was held at Japra Vineyards on Oct 30 in Fremont, California. The purpose of the meet-up was to assist entrepreneurs and innovators to identify the opportunities in entire healthcare industry across the globe.

Highly accomplished physicians, physician entrepreneurs, an array of personnel from reputable imaging centers, surgical centers and hospitals as speakers and mentors attended this event. Healthcare transformations 3.0 identified three critical areas that need innovation. They are technology transformation, process transformation and personnel transformation.

Event host and organizer Dr Romesh Japra is an eminent cardiologist from Silicon Valley, a dynamic leader with extensive background in both clinical and non clinical side of healthcare. Dr Japra is an investor, advisor, mentor and he has actively participated in several startups.

Dr Javeed Siddiqui was the keynote speaker of the evening and emphasized on the importance of tele-medicine. He is the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer for TeleMed2U, a 100% telemedicine based multi-specialty clinical practice. In addition to being an Infectious Diseases physician, Dr Siddiqui is a recognized medical technologist and served as the first Medical Director of California’s Institute for Science and Innovation.

Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance. It helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant rural communities. It is also used to save lives in critical care and emergency situations, says Dr Siddiqui.

The global telemedicine market has grown from $9.8 billion in 2010 to $11.6 billion in 2011 and is expected to grow to $27.3 billion in 2016, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.6% over the next five years.

He has been actively involved in telemedicine and tele health since 2002 and has been recognized as a national thought leader in these fields. TeleMed2U is a multi-specialty medical practice that is 100% telemedicine based.

In addition, TeleMed2U is breaking new ground in the application of telemedicine and telehealth in the field of healthcare reform. Tingbin Tang, Chief Creative Officer at iHealth Lab spoke on his products. With over 15 years experience in the product development field, specialized in user experience research, user interface design, and industrial design, he was the Winner of Good Design 2004 – an International industrial and graphics design competition.
Raju Annamraju was the Moderator. With a 20-year career in the health care field, with strong emphasis on Radiology and Cardiology fields Ramana has owned and operated an Imaging center for 10 years. He authored several work flow process for Radiology and Cardiology outsourcing.

Ramana was instrumental in forming several physician networks across United States and actively participated in forming of IPAs and HMOs. The event was well attended by CEOs of medical device and healthcare industry startup.
