Sonakshi Sinha may be daddy’s girl, but what she shares with her mother Poonam is special in its own way. “This bond is unexplainable. I am daddy’s girl, but there is no one closer to me than my mother.
“While my father would be away for work, she was the one who was always home and brought us up sacrificing a lot in her own life, including her career. That takes a lot of strength and courage,” says the 27-year-old.
The actor adds, “She’s always told me to be myself and not change for anyone. It used to sound very simple, but I’ve realized how important that advice is.”
Poonam, meanwhile, hails that spirit of Sona’s. “When she started college and was on the heavy side, I used to wonder how as a teen, she’s least bothered and not becoming conscious about her looks like any other girl her age. I used to tease her saying, ‘if you don’t lose weight, how will you attract good looking boys?’ … and very confidently, she would say, ‘they’ll be attracted to me anyway!’
