Honeymooners prefer India destinations

Sixty per cent of those surveyed said they preferred to go on a holiday inside India as compared to 40 per cent who picked to honeymoon abroad after their wedding, the survey says.

The goal behind the survey was to find out how couples in India go about planning their honeymoon with respect to the factors like choosing a destination, how much to spend, duration of the honeymoon, etc.

When it came to honeymoon planning, it’s the money rather than choice of spouse that matters for Indian men.
“60 per cent of Indian men who participated in the survey said value for money was the most important factor while deciding, followed by online reviews,” the survey noted.

Also 70 per cent of men surveyed said they preferred to be accompanied by another couple on their honeymoon.
With a sample size of 2,000 men and women spread across Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata, the respondents fell under the age bracket of 25 years to 35 years.

Typically, a majority of couples (50 per cent) said they booked trips before three months of their wedding.
20 per cent of couples took between three to six months of their wedding with only one per cent planning their trip at least a year before.

Moreover, 20 per cent of couples said they booked trips only after their wedding. Either way, travelers chose destinations based on good value (60 per cent) dream destination, online reviews and lastly based on their spouse’s choice.

Most couples surveyed (60 per cent) spent between Rs 25,000 to Rs 75,000 while five per cent spent over Rs 3 lakhs for their trips, which typically ranged between less than a week (35 per cent) to over two weeks (12 per cent). -PTI
