Ambassador Hardeep Singh Puri, Permanent Representative of India to the UN April 8, handed over a check of $1 million towards India’s contribution to the core voluntary budget of UN Women (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women) for the year 2011.
The check was received on behalf of UN Women by Dr Michele Bachelet, Under Secretary General and Executive Director of UN Women.
India’s contribution demonstrates its firm support to the promotion of UN efforts in the field of gender equality and the empowerment of women.
