PATNA: Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley has alleged that weak government at the Centre could not take "political decisions" and has adopted an "escapist attitude" so far regarding creation of separate Telangana and on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

"The Centre has adopted and escapist attitude... it was trying to fire from the shoulders of judiciary by appointing retired judges to decide the Telangana and J&K issue," Jaitley, the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha alleged while addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters here.

"I personally feel that retired judges could not take political decisions as they were not trained for it. They have been trained to take constitutional, criminal and other decisions," Jaitley said.

He appealed to retired and senior judges to decline the offer of the government to take political decisions in order to maintain the sanctity of the judiciary.

Jaitley slammed the UPA at the Centre for skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and said it has nothing to do with the global meltdown. Normally during the slowdown, prices mainly that of essential commodities go down as a rule. But here in the country, it is quite the opposite as there was both -- slowdown and price rise.
