CHICAGO: The need for a platform, where people from all walks of life can be part of a celebration and appreciation, was always felt in the Indian American community of Chicago for a long time.

This desire and hope turned into reality when the iCAN Awards were officially launched at an event hosted by the iHopeSewa organization on December 10 at Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows, a North West side suburb of Chicago.

The iCAN Awards are all about recognizing Real People with Real Awards. The Award Categories are: Business Awards, Entertainment Awards, Fashion Awards, Community Awards, Education Awards, Life Achievement Awards, Group Awards, Family Awards, Fun Awards and Social Media Awards.

“The idea is to celebrate the achievements of our local heroes’ community in over 9 categories with 40 awards. The beauty of this concept is to reach out to every community of Indian subcontinent residing in Midwest and local people nominating local heroes and voting for them as well justifying the tagline real people real awards,” said Ravi Rawat, iCAN Marketing Head

“It’s high time we recognize these individuals so that our community can learn from these achievers. I am committed to work with team to take iCAN to the national level,” said Rita Singh, President SR International and Executive Member of iCAN Team

The iCAN Awards Ceremony is scheduled to be held on March 18, 2017 in Northwest suburbs of Chicago.
A team of over 40 enthusiastic volunteers behind this move feel assured that the overwhelming response that they are receiving will certainly take at par with renowned film and TV awards.

The iCAN team gave an overview of the award process and introduced the team leaders responsible for their respective award category. The event was kicked off by Mohan Rawat – a Desi Junction Radio Host.

He gave an overview of the concept and the event started with a welcome note. Then The Event was officially launched by the likes of Jassi Parmar, Ravi Rawat, Sanjeev Singh, Bhavesh Patel, Neil Khot, Haribhai Patel, Rita Singh, Girish Kapur & Nilesh Topiwala along with volunteers.

Jassi Parmar & Ravi Rawat revealed the high level concept with the media and the guests. The Executive leadership team was introduced by Saneev Singh, Neil Khot and Ravi Rawat.

Neil Khot & Bhavesh Patel gave an outline for iCAN Branding and Strategy plan and introduced Hari Bhai Patel – iCAN Sr. Brand Ambassador.
