Cupertino, CA: Indus Travel Network Association (ITNA), a non-profit organization, held its third travel agent and airline get-together at Arya Global Cuisine offering Italian and Persian fare in Cupertino, California on November 11.  The event was sponsored by award winning Qatar Airways and attended by several leading Bay Area travel agents and several airline representatives.

The founding officers of ITNA are Kumud Paul, Deepak Vohra, Prem Singh, Gulu Laungani, and Sandeep Talwar.  Kumud Paul, President of ITNA said, “We are very happy to have reached our membership target before this third meeting of 120 members.  Our membership fees are very reasonable at $25 and we need to grow even more.”  Indus Travel Network Association (ITNA) has been formed to bring together all travel agents who sell and/or promote travel to the Indian Sub-Continent and South East Asia. This association is formed for agents to network, share ideas, provide resources and to better manage travel for the travelling public and Indian community.

As event sponsor, Qatar Airways, the Middle East’s’ most awarded international airline, gave a presentation.  Qatar Airways is the only Middle Eastern airlines offering the highest quality of service and has won numerous prestigious awards for the past seven consecutive years, including World’s Best Business Class, Best Catering in Business Class, Best Cabin Crew in the Middle East, along with World’s Leading Business Class Airline by Business Traveller Awards.  Qatar travels to 92 destinations worldwide, 11 destinations to India, with 88 aircrafts and an expansion plan to add 200 new aircrafts.  Qatar’s U.S. gateways include New York (JFK), Washington, and Houston and Qatar provides in flight entertainment systems with touch screens offering over 900 entertainment options for both its business class and economy class passengers.

Qatar Airlines has its main hub is Doha, the largest and capital city of the state of Qatar located in the Persian Gulf.  “We have grown 32% each year since the past three years and I think it is time for San Francisco to experience a five-star airline,” said Christen Anderson.  When asked whether Qatar is adding San Francisco, Mr. Anderson said, “San Francisco is definitely on our radar, currently we fly from three cities in the U.S., Houston, New York, and Washington and we are looking at adding additional cities as we continue to grow.

Currently, we provide daily service from the U.S. and we serve eleven cities in India.  There is a huge demand from San Francisco as well as Los Angeles.  We have significant partnerships with United Airlines so we are able to transfer passengers from the west coast to India via Doha,” said Christian Anderson, Regional Sales Manager, USA for Qatar Airways.

“We are competitive in our pricing and we are providing value to our customers,” added Mr. Anderson, Regional Sales Manager of Qatar Airways when asked about how they will compete in the West Coast market. ITNA’s next event is on January 19, 2011.
