IOC seeks Air India report implementation

Justice John Major with IOC president Vikram Bajwa

CALGARY, Canada: Indian Overseas Congress President Vikram Bajwa held a meeting with Justice John Major here to discuss an update on the “Air India – A Canadian Tragedy-Kanishka” report, submitted to the Conservative Government of Stephen Harper.

He said that since Canada has been forced to go to elections on May 2 due to the Government losing the confidence Vote, IOC strongly recommends, on the advise of Justice John Major, that all prospective candidates, irrespective of political party affiliations, should vow to ask the New Government in May 2011 to implement the report and grant justice and a decent compensation to the families of the victims.

IOC also suggested that Indo-Canadians should not only be emotional in ensuring victory to NRI candidates but should have them endorse the report as a political promise.
