CHICAGO: Islam Center of Chicago (ICC) annual fundraiser dinner was held last week at White Eagle Banquet in Chicago. It was attended by a large number of prominent Indian, Pakistani and Middle Eastern families and religious scholars.

Hafiz Azam Hashmi welcomed the guests and emceed the program on behalf of At Takaful Islamic Society. He introduced ICC full time school students memorizing Quran.

Mazhar Shah Khan made an audio video presentation for ICC full time school and other activities. ICC is providing religious educational and social services to the North side Muslim community for over 24 years. It has a full time Elementary school from Pre K to 8th grade where quality academic education is available in an Islamic environment. The school also runs full time Hifz Quran classes for boys and girls.

The school teachers, scholars in Islamic studies, prepares full time school students to meet the challenges of further studies.

The ICC full time school students participated in Science Fair Regional and four of them were selected for the State’s Science Fair out of 50 states. Other ICC students also won awards of excellence. Hundreds of Muslims join 5 times the Friday prayers at ICC mosque. In Ramadan Iftaar and Taraveeh prayers are arranged. For last 10 days, ICC made full arrangements for worshippers intending for Eitekaf (Ramadan exclusive worship).

The presentation also highlighted ICC future plans that included more after school activities, new building for ICC school, a Day Care center for Muslim children and additional parking around ICC mosque. Mazhar also discussed the ICC annual budget, its shortfall and requested for generous donations.

The presentation was followed by speeches by Imam Hussain Sattar and guest scholar from New York Imam Shaikh Hasan Abunar. Abdul Hai and team of ICC volunteers later helped arranged the dinner in male and female sections.
