SRINAGAR: As part of the bi-annual darbar move, Jammu and Kashmir civil secretariat and all other government offices will close here on October 29 and will reopen in the winter capital, Jammu next month.
According to a circular issued by Governor N N Vohra’s office, all communications meant for the Governor and his staff, which cannot reach Raj Bhavan, Srinagar before October 29 should be addressed to Raj Bhavan, Jammu till further intimation.
The shifting of civil secretariat and other offices, popularly known as ‘darbar move’, is a pre-independence practice under which the state government functions six months each in Jammu and summer capital Srinagar.
Earlier, a General Administration Department order said all state government offices in Srinagar observing a five-day week would shut down on October 29, while those that were open for six days in a week, would close on October 30.
The offices including the civil secretariat will reopen in Jammu on November 8.
