CHANDIGARH: Qila Raipur MLA Jassi Khangura (an NRI) has asked Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on the status of the Ludhiana Metro, which the latter had promised to the people of the city before coming to power. In a statement, Khangura reminded the deputy chief minister of his failure to fulfill “his promise to turn Ludhiana into Paris”.
“Paris remains a dream too far but Ludhiana has not remained even what it was before Sukhbir’s party came to power,” he remarked, adding that potholed streets, garbage dumps, choked roads and drains had become the norm of the day for the people of Ludhiana.
“What to speak of the metro rail in Ludhiana, we are yet to hear anything about the City Bus Service despite centre having provided special grant for the purpose under Jawahar National Urban Renewal Mission,” Khangura said.
Referring to a flurry of activity Sukhbir has been projecting to be doing for development, particularly in Ludhiana, Khangura said it was for the second time that the foundation stone had been laid down for the passenger underpass in Aggar Nagar. Most of the development projects Sukhbir claims to have started or executed are funded by the Central government or were started by the previous Congress government.-Agencies
