CHICAGO: Laxmi Prasad Barot, 85, father of Hemant Brahmbhatt (Hi India newspaper) passed away on Monday, April 25 in Chicago after prolonged illness.

Hemant Brahmbhatt and his family members said that though no more physically he would “always be part of us, being part of our heart.” Hemant said, “Throughout my life my father taught me many things: Respect, Moral values, Honoring, Sincerity and Ethics. We grieve his death and pray to God that his Soul rest in peace. ” He believed in “simple living and high thinking and lived long enough with joy and fulfilling life.

Barot, who had started eking out a living for family members from the time he turned 14, gradually mastered the art of typing and worked with some private companies before joining the top-drawer organization like Gujarat Electricity Board .

He had been living in the US for the past 16 years. He enjoyed going to gardens and watching dramas and musical shows. After kidney failure, he had been on dialysis since 2009 and, in September last, was admitted to hospital where he remained semi-conscious till he breathed his last.

Laxmi Prasad was cremated at Bohemian National Cemetery of Chicago on N. Pulaski Road, at 11 am on Saturday April 30 in the presence of a number of family members, relatives, friend and members of Chicago Indian community. He is survived by his wife Sushila, two sons (younger Hemant and elder Nitin) and daughter Dharmista. While Nitin is working with GEB, Dharmista lives in Philadelphia.

India Post and its staff members join many in Chicagoland in expressing their sense of grief and loss, and pray that Brahmbhatt family gets strength to bear this loss.
