Aanchal Dogra crowned Miss India-Canada 2009
TORONTO: Aanchal Dogra of Mississauga, Ontario won the coveted title of Miss India-Canada 2009 at a night of entertainment, prestige and glamour rolled into one at the 19th annual Miss India-Canada Event here. The Second Runner-up was Guneet Marwah and the First Runner-up Komal Sharma.
Allison Couch of Toronto, ON won the Rogers People's Choice Award, Noorin Manji of Markham, ON won the Miss Congeniality Award and Komal Sharma of Pierrefonds, QC won Miss Photogenic.
Aanchal Dogra is a 25-year old physiotherapist at a renowned Orthopedic Center. She has completed a dual specialization in Bachelors in Physical Therapy and M.D in Alternative Medicines. She will shortly be pursuing Masters in Health Care Administration.
Aanchal wants to become an ambassador of peace, goodwill, harmony and compassion in order to do full justice to the Miss India-Canada organization's motto "For beauty with a purpose". With the Miss India-Canada title, Aanchal wants to forge ahead into fields yet to be explored by her: Entrepreneurship, Social services, Health services, the Entertainment world and beyond.
With a red carpet entrance, dazzling cocktail hour, and stunning stage set provided by Dream Party Decor, patrons were "wowed" right from the very beginning. The 16 contestants began the evening with a high-energy dance sequence.
Organizers, Sanjay Agnihotri and Gautam Sharma then presented rising Hollywood Actor, Karen David with the Special Achievement Award. Prior to receiving award, Karen provided the audience with a breathtaking performance to her new single Magic Carpet Ride.
The sold out show was proudly supported by Rogers, Movado, Om Financial, and India Tourism to name a few. Other sponsors included Payal Convention Centre, Bigen Speedy Hair Colour, Yak and State Bank of India (Canada).
