Sanjay Leela Bhansali is keen to revive his ambitious project ‘Bajirao Mastani’ with Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan. It was Bhansali’s dream project and he wished to make it with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan long time back after the success of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ but soon after the film Salman and Aishwarya drifted apart and the project was shelved.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali waited long to get the exes together again but things did not turn out positive and the duo never patched up. At one point of time, he even decided to make the film with Kareena Kapoor’s cousin Shivani Kapoor and Salman Khan but it also did not work out.
But after the success of ‘Ram Leela’, the ‘Black’ director has decided to sign the reigning queen of Bollywood Deepika Padukone and the Greek God of Bollywood Hrithik Roshan.
‘Bajirao Mastani’ is based on the love story of the Maratha general Peshwa Bajirao and his Muslim-origin wife Mastani, who faced the rage of society due to their inter-religion love and marriage. Their marriage reportedly led to a crisis within the royal family.
