CHICAGO: Indian Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan urged Indian physicians to make extra efforts in serving the Motherland and assured them that any concern or constructive suggestion from their side would be attended fully.

The Minister was on a brief visit to Chicago en route to New Delhi and the Indian Consulate had organized a breakfast meeting in honor of the dignitary. The meet was attended by prominent members of the medical fraternity including members of the Indian American Medical Association of Illinois, the Indian Dental Association, the President, Blind Foundation of India, Founder and CEO, Arogya World, Heart Care Center of South Chicago besides others associated with the health sector and service organizations in Chicagoland area.

Dr Harsh Vardhan in his address briefed on his five day tour of the United States and his meetings with the Secretary of Health, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, meetings with the special envoy of the UN Secretary General and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He also mentioned his attending the annual convention of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and other events.

He stressed the importance of Chicago as the venue of the famous address by Swami Vivekananda and recalled his first visit to the Fullerton Hall at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2000.

He touched upon the recent launch of the Swasthya Bharat website and invited the assembled physicians to serve their motherland. He invited suggestions and promised to expedite clearances by the Medical Council of India and to remove bottlenecks in programs and schemes. He gave his email address to the guests and asked them to send him their proposals directly.
