CHICAGO: Live 2U hosted the celebrated Indian singers Mohit Chauhan and Mamta Sharma at Copernicus Center in Chicago on Friday March 28 with a packed house and audience enjoying it right thru the end.
The two visiting singers from India provided a very enthralling music experience for the Chicagoans.
Mohit Chauhan is a two-time recipient of the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer as well as several other awards. His song “Dooba Dooba” became a hit in the Indipop music scene but was a rage with his rendering of Tum Se Hi for the movie “Jab We Met”.
Mamta Sharma, an Indian playback singer from Gwalior, fetched several awards and nominations, including a Filmfare award for Best Playback Singer. She gave her voice to various Bhojpuri albums, but got her first with a song in ‘Dabbang’. She sang the item song, ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ and overnight became a celebrity.
Mahijit Singh Virdi, Kathakali and two other local artists delighted the audience with their melodious songs. Mohit Chauhan started the concert with his Rockstar single, ‘jo bhi main kehna chahoon’. Even in the first song, he made sure to interact with the audience. Maintaining the romantic mood of the song, he went on to sing ‘Kuch khaas hai’ and then Yeh dooriyan followed by Tum se hi from Jab We Met.
Mamta Sharma along with six dancers presented famous song Anarkali Disco Chali, and stunned the audience with “Munni Badnaam Hui” from Dabbang; “Chamki Jawaani” and “TinkuJiya” from ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’; “Naa Board Irada Bus” from ‘Hudugaru’ “Mumbai MonyHai Re” from ‘Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai’ and “Pandeyjee Seeti” from ‘Dabbang 2’.
The audience kept asking for their favorite songs which the singers kept presenting. It was truly a remarkable show leaving the audience spellbound by their amazing musical talent! The show ended shortly after midnight with Mohit Chauhan thanking fans and organizers for their support.
