Nirupama Rao wins over Chicago Indians

CHICAGO: The newly arrived Indian Ambassador to USA made her first visit as Ambassador to Chicago while attending the US-India Economic Opportunity & Synergies Summit. She had a good time meeting with members of the Indian community. She praised Indian Americans for their contributions not only to the mainstream society here but also for helping cement Indo-US relations. She expressed her strong desire to work closely with them for further improving bilateral relations in all fields of human activities – economics, politics, education technology and business. She was greeted during her meet by Indian leaders Smita Shah, Delhi Chicago Sister city chair, Balwinder Singh, prominent Indian community activist, Vinesh Virani of Art of living and Nick Gakhal, a leading businessman and others.
In her address during the meet, she talked abut her long association – over two decades long – with this country but mentioned that her assignment as Ambassador was a new role and she looked forward to forge close ties with USA and engineer sizeable business partnership. She referred to Swami Vivekananda and mentioned that she would also like to address the gathering as my fellow brothers and sisters. She won over Chicago Indians with her humility and charm. Indians here invited her to visit this great city at her convenience and said that they would like to host a reception for her.
