CHICAGO: An Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) camp organized by Chicago Indian Consulate and Bharatiya Senior Citizens Group at Itasca Swaminarayayan temple recently turned out to be a huge success, judging by the response from members of Indian community at large.
In all about 420 applications for OCI were received while closet to 400 renunciation of old passports were processed. Jitendra Patel, a member of Director of BSC Group, said that the success could be attributed to nice arrangement made at the temple by its management led by Jagdish Patel.
He said that “we are also thankful to Indian Consulate team besides Ghanshyambhai (Mota Bhagat), Vishunubhai who served food to our members. Our special thanks are to Dhirubhai Bhungalia and timely help by youth volunteers of the temple who solved the crowding problem by issuing token numbers to the waiting applicants and helping all to get seated in the chairs for smooth flow of processing the applications.” Spurred by the success, Indian Consulate is considering holding similar camps at different places in Chiicagoland, it is learnt from Consulate sources.
