Over 100 participate in MFC Health Fair

CHICAGO: For the health and well being of the elderly, Metropolitan Family Clinic hosted a free, well organized health fair at MAFS Naperville site recently. Over a hundred people participated in this event.

Health screenings on diabetes, to monitor blood glucose level, Cholesterol, to measure HDL & LDL levels with lipid profile, bone density, to check for osteoporosis, breast and cervical to detect cancer; Bariatric testing for geriatric care and pulse oximetry testing to monitor the stability of oxygen & pulse rate were offered to the participants.

The doctors team was led by Dr. Manoher Jethani, a board certified physician for over 35 years, specializing in Emergency, Bariatric and Anti-aging medicine.

Pramod and Mrs. Santosh Kumar, the CFO and the Executive Director of MAFS respectively, announced much needed health services for everyone including but not limited to open-access scheduling for appointments to be made within 24 hours which can help avoid waiting for Emergency room visits and hospital admission and medical services at a low reasonable cost if one does not have insurance. MFC has community open hours from 9am to 3pm Tuesday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1p.m. on Saturdays, at 1032 E. Ogden Avenue in Naperville. They encouraged all participants to take advantage of the benefits MFC has to offer.

In addition to above, Manmohan Sharma a nutritionist, a training director, MAFS and an author of four books, namely Defeating Diabetes with nutrition, High BP tamed without medicine, Turning off Cancer with food, Alzheimer – new hope, presented an educational workshop on Diabetes. He emphasized three important factors which can help diabetes patients, namely, reduce fat from everyday diet, eat whole foods, and walk everyday whenever possible.

Keeping in mind the individual differences, everyone was offered different solutions to overcome their own particular health problems related to Diabetes.
This health fair was a grand success. Both health screening and education were greatly beneficial to the participants. All persons went home with practical preventive measures that they can incorporate in their daily lives as well as with a better understanding of the medical treatments available for their own health conditions or diseases.
