Phagwara NRI’s land sold fraudulently

PHAGWARA: Following intervention of Punjab State Commission for NRIs, the Phagwara Police has booked 11 persons for selling the land of an NRI worth around Rs 2.27 crores with fake power of attorney.
The complaint was lodged by US-based NRI Sukhjinder Singh on behalf of Canada Surrey based NRI Hardeep Singh Maan. The 11 persons booked include former sub registrar Harvinder Singh, Patwari Saudagar Singh, Vasika Navees, Chaman Lal, Jalandhar residents Ramesh Arora, Amrit Paul, Ravi Kumar, Sudhir Rajerio, Sarvjeet Singh and his wife Manjit Kaur residents of Village Foldiwal, Jaswant Singh and Babli Rani (both of Village Gandhwan). The land was sold to Phagwara Village Nangal Kherra resident Paramjit Singh Sandhu.

The complainant alleged that these deeds were executed on December 7 and December 12 in the year 2010 by the accused Ramesh Arora and Amritpaul who claimed to have special power of attorney from (GPA) General Power of Attorney Paramjit Sandhu. Interestingly, the said land was under acquisition by Improvement Trust, Phagwara and award had already been passed in the year 2008. The complainant NRI Sukhjinder Singh said he fought a legal battle for eight years. Finally he knocked the doors of Director General of Police Punjab Suresh Arora who assured him of justice.
