FREMONT: FLEX College Prep hosted a seminar on October 9 at Mission San Jose High School, Fremont, CA. The attendees comprised overwhelmed parents and a few students. Evidently even now parents play a crucial role in deciding the future academic course of their wards.
Daniel Byun, President/Founder of FLEX College Prep initiated the topic providing a heads-up in what works for college admissions, regarding choice of advance placement subjects and extra-curricular choices, GPA score and SAT scores. Parents eagerly absorbed all information with anxiety writ over their faces. College is one of the most important decisions in a student’s life. Going to the right school would open the gates of the student’s future and help achieve their goals. Such decisions should not be made lightly. Families need reliable information from knowledgeable sources. They need good advice.
Robert Jackson a former Yale University admission officer spoke in detail about what should the student do while in school, and how to make the right choice while choosing core contents for education. Clear information was provided about UCs and private colleges.
Each year, millions of high school seniors apply to college, competing for a limited number of seats. Colleges have been receiving record numbers of applications and the numbers keep going up. To make matters worse, there is much conflicting information about applying to college.
