Proud of Army

Yami Gautam feels that ‘URI: The Surgical Strike’ is a movie every Indian should watch, and that the film will make the Army proud. “I always had respect for the Indian Army, but after being a part of this film, I would like to do something to reach out to the families of jawans in the future. I will do anything required to help them. I now have in-depth knowledge about what they go through and what conditions they survive in. It takes a lot of courage to survive every odd and still say it with pride that the only thing that matters to them is their nation. One of my biggest learnings came from a Colonel who told me, ‘it’s not that we are different, we make ourselves different. If we can do it, so can you’,” Yami says.

Another interesting part for Yami was a visit to an Airforce base. “While when I saw a military chopper, the feeling was something else. I was so much in awe and felt such sense of pride that I don’t think I was even acting on camera. I still get goosebumps when I think of that moment and that part of the film,” says Yami.
