ST LOUIS: Holi, known as the ‘festival of colors’ is celebrated on the full moon day falling in the month of Phalguna (Feb-Mar). Like many other festivals in India, Holi also signifies victory of good over evil.

The First ever Holi was celebrated by Gujarati Samaj of St. Louis in St. Peters Park on Saturday March 26. In spite of rain and cold weather, over 150 members participated in this event. Members sprayed Holi colors on each other and Holika Dahan was done at 5 pm. This was followed by Gujarati food.

The Samaj’s President Jitendra Parbhu thanked all members for participating in this event and promised to continue celebrating Holi every year from now on.

Children particularly enjoyed the festival as they have their water missiles, called pichkaris to drench the person from far and escape further drenching.

Guajarti Samaj upcoming event will be Gujarati play on April 10th and Spring Festival cultural program on April 16th.
