ANAHEIM: On February 24, the City of Anaheim along with Squier Properties and ADI Inc. held the grand opening of Elm Street Commons affordable housing development available in the city for very low and low income families.
Elm Street Commons will provide additional quality housing and community amenities for Anaheim residents. Elm Street Commons, a 52 unit apartment development is located on the corner of Elm St. and Anaheim Blvd. in the downtown area. The project has landscaped walkways and plazas and also include a community center, leasing office, private balconies, tot lot, two level subterranean parking, and housing for on-site management.
It is close to major transportation, parks, schools, hospital, grocery store, public library, the MUZEO, and other retail outlets. The completion of Elm Street Commons adds to the recent developments in and around the downtown area. This development was a joint effort among developers ADI Inc., Squier Properties, and the Anaheim Housing Authority/City of Anaheim and funded by Hanmi Bank, Red Capital Markets Inc, and CCRC. This development is designed by Withee Malcolm Architects in traditional "Spanish" style architecture to hearken back to Anaheim's early architectural beginnings and to provide a community that evokes warmth, tradition, and permanence.
The celebration started with a welcome address by Ajit Mithaiwala of ADI Inc. He stated "Today 52 more families will have roofs over their heads and sleep peacefully at night." He commended Dr Amit Desai for his effort in seeing every stage of the development through with professionalism, his strong communication skills, and his attention to detail towards this beautiful project.
