BENGALURU: Indian origin musician Ricky Kej has won Zone Music Reporter (ZMR) Awards in the USA and two South African Music Awards (SAMA) in South Africa for his Grammy-winning work “Winds of Samsara”.

“It is absolutely humbling and thrilling to see all this recognition and accolades that I am continuing to receive for ‘Winds of Samsara’ from different parts of the World,” Kej told PTI.

“This is very encouraging and fills me with extreme enthusiasm to continue to make music from the heart and I pledge to do so. I am truly grateful to everyone from every country who have listened to me and felt my music,” he said.

“Winds of Samsara” was Kej’s collaboration with South African flautist Wouter Kellerman.

The 33-year-old musician won ‘Album of the year’ and ‘Best World Album’ at the prestigious ZMR Awards held early this month, his media manager, Varsha Kej, said.

ZMR awards are voted by Radio Broadcasters, Radio Jockeys, Radio Programmers and Music Reviewers from all over the world, she said.

He won the coveted ‘producer of the year’ award for “Winds of Samsara” across all genres at the SAMA held in April, Varsha said.

He also bagged the ‘best contemporary instrumental album’ honor.

SAMAs is one of the most esteemed music awards across the world and is the South African equivalent of the Grammys, Varsha said.

The artiste is also nominated for the Independent Music Award (USA) that is to be announced shortly.-PTI
