Schaumburg to see mayoral debate

CHICAGO: A group of community leaders and activists joined by Schaumburg business group Desi Junction will host a meet-and-greet event with mayoral candidates for Schaumburg town on March 17 at Embassy Suites.

This mayoral debate will be moderated by Jassi Parmar, host of Desi Junction and 8K FM Radio and it will be broadcast live on Desi Junction and 8K Radio (107.1 FM and 96.7 FM ). Being organized just a day before early voting begins, this town hall and debate has become even more important for all the mayoral and trustee candidates to connect with resident voters.

All three prospective mayoral candidates – Nafees Rahman, incumbent Tom Dailly, and Matthew J. Steward – will come face to face for a healthy debate and will respond to questions from the audience after stating their position on various issues facing the town.

Schaumburg town has a huge number of people from the Indian subcontinent and Rahman hails from Pakistan. Residents and businesses of Schaumburg will have an opportunity to interact with these candidates to make an informed voting choice. schaumburg mayoral contestants

Bhairavi Tanna Thakkar of Desi Junction said: “Your voice needs to be heard and your issues need to be addressed – it’s time now to come forward and know your candidates.”

Priyanka Mathur, the event’s chief coordinator, said: “This one of a kind town hall and debate will give you an opportunity to know your future potential village president and ask questions that are important to you as a resident. This debate is held from you, for you and by you!”

According to Ravi Rawat, an organizing team Member and a prominent businessman of the area, the purpose of this Desi Junction media conclave is to create awareness among local residents to participate in choosing their local government and encourage them to exercise their voting rights.

A number of media houses and local organizations are fully backing this initiative. The organizations do not promote, support or favor any particular candidate, political party, or agenda.
