CHICAGO: United Senior Pariwar, Chicago celebrated its 10th Navratri Festival on September 23 at Niles Park dist. Hall, in Niles, with Raas- Garba. Over 1200 people including, seniors, middle age couples, youngsters and kids attended this event.
It started with Mataji Sthapna Puja by Mrs. Manjulaben Chhitubhai Patel (Vice- President) and family along with shlokas chanting by Prof. Rohitbhai Joshi. Garba started thereafter and in few minutes the hall was full,
Special guests were Mafatbhai Patel, Dr. Dhiren Mistry, Mrs. Ushaben Kamariya, Hitesh Desai from Air tour, Dr. Hemali and Chirag Shah from Soul Care Health Service and Past President of Gujarati Samaj Suryakant Patel and Mrs. Urvashi Patel.
The competition for best dress, acting and good decoration of Aarti was held. Prizes to winners were given. Judges were well known Bharat Natyam teacher Mrs. Ruth Vargas, Usha Kamariya and Dr. Hemali Shah. Sixty families took part in Aarti. After Aarti, Dandia Raas was played till midnight and this was followed with Sanedo and Hich.
Every one got Prasad and snacks donated by Patel Brothers. Delicious food was catered by Big Suchir Restaurant of Wood Ridge.
