Senior program in St Louis very well received

ST LOUIS: Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Center (MGC) hosted a Seniors Social on Sunday, August 21 in St. Louis, MO attended by over 100 residents of the American-Indian community of Greater St. Louis area with more than 65 years of life experiences and wisdom.

This free program started with socializing and lunch at noon followed by informational lectures relevant for the elderly. Geriatrician Dr Miriam Rodin spoke on the topic of “Successful Aging: It’s in your Hands”; Dr. GV Naidu presented the relevance of “Spiritual Strength”; Dr. Elly Barua Bhuyan spoke on the importance of “Sports/ Activities for Elderly”; Dr Satish Kulkarni presented on “Mental Health awareness” and Cheryl Campbell along with Maggie O’Hara informed seniors on the options of “sizing down & retirement housing”.

On this occasion, MGC honored Dr Rangaswamy Varadhachary, Dr Mohinder Partap, Chandan Mahanta, Dr Chandrakant & Mrs Ila Taylor and Ashwin Patel for their remarkable contributions and outstanding service to the community.

A Live musical entertainment, “Sureeli Yaadein” was provided by Guru Sandhya Anu Pandurangi and group from Anu-Rag School of Music who sang many golden oldies and Hindi songs requested by the audience. Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Center organized this special program for the seniors, with support from the India Association of St. Louis.
