Seniors celebrate Annual Meet with musical program

CHICAGO: Indian Seniors of Chicago (ISC) celebrated their Annual meet with Musical Program on November 25 at Mahalaxmi auditorium at Manav Seva Mandir in Bensenville for the benefit of members and their family and friends. Capacity crowd of over 360 members joined the program.

Welcoming members and guests, Hirabhai Patel on behalf of Executive Committee talked about the hard work of the members and volunteers of ISC organization for this event.

The program was kicked off by traditional Lamp Lighting ceremony while Mandir Priest Nag Bhushan recited mantras from Rig Vedas. Smt. Gitaben Suthar and Smt. Pushpaben Panchal invited luminaries including Chief Guest Chhotalal Patel, Special Guests Pradip Patel, Dahyabhai Prajapati and President Dr. Narsinhbhai Patel for this Deep Pragatya ceremony.

Popular artist Arvindbhai Kotak held the entire event together with his wit, interactive sessions, jokes and satires. Cultural and entertainment program followed. Half way through the program, Hirabhai Patel invited Chief Guest and special guests on the podium. Chief Guest Chhotalal Patel was greeted with flower bouquet by Dr. Narsinhbhai Patel and also greeted with flowers were Pradipbhai Patel, Haribhai Patel, Ramanbhai, Bharatbhai Thakkar, Naresh Dekhtawala, Santosh Kumar and Vandana Jhingan.

Informational presentation on year 2017 highlighting activities of Indian Seniors of Chicago was given by President Dr. Narsinhbhai Patel. Sponsors were recognized and honored by President Dr. Narsinhbhai Patel with a gift and a rose flower bouquet. For the rest of the evening, melodious musical evening was handled by talented musical group. The music brought many seniors who overcame age related restrictions and performed impromptu Bollywood dance with music beats.

The excellent presentation of meet, greet and fun filled evening finally ended in late hours of night. Indian Seniors of Chicago, a brainchild of founding and pillar member Dr. Narsinhbhai Patel, was started in year 2001. The organization’s main goal is to give a social platform for senior Diaspora to congregate periodically, help organize cultural activities including monthly meetings, presentation of informational seminars, arranging visitation to interesting places, picnics and group travel to local and international destinations.

The organization gives special consideration to widowed spouses of deceased single seniors to help them address their risk of developing depression due to loneliness and isolation. The evening concluded with Chitranjan Desai proposing vote of thanks.
