SAN JOSE, CA: With snaking queues and houseful board sign outside the National Civic Center was the most happening place this past Sunday. The occasion was a Live performance by Bollywood’s melody queen Shreya Ghoshal. Shreya’s concert in San Jose was part of her USA tour across six cities – Houston, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Cincinnati and Tampa conceptualized by Shree Balaji Entertainment Ltd.
The who’s who of Bay Area Indian community could be seen at the concert dressed in their finest swooning to Shreya Ghoshal’s soulful numbers. The slow romantic numbers at the beginning gave way to foot tapping item numbers like “Nagada Sang Dhol” and “Chikni Chameli” forcing people out of their seats. Shreya’s tribute to classics like “Lag Ja Gale” had the audience captivated. The show came to a close with thunderous applause with loud cheers of ‘once more’.
The sold out show, was organized by Instant Karma, Shor Media and Bollywood Events. “We know Bay Area Desi community loves Shreya and expected to have a great turn out, but having a sold out show weeks before the event was unexpected. We had to turn away a lot of fans who came to the venue to buy tickets. We felt bad but we plan to bring Shreya back soon,” said Bhavini Joshi, founder of Instant Karma.
“We have been organizing concerts for a decade and this sort of show turn out is unprecedented. We hope people will continue to show their love and support for our future shows. To avoid standing in lines and being disappointed with seats sold out, we recommend our patrons to buy their tickets online on Ticketmaster or Sulekha,” said BikramJeet Singh, Bollywood Events.

Bay Area’s premium radio channel 1170 AM was the exclusive radio partner for the concert. Cakes & Bakes provided delectable food to accentuate the evening. Yours Humanly – a non-profit organization which aims to fight and end child illiteracy served as the philanthropy partner for the event. Production partner for the show was Pacific Sounds.
Upcoming shows include comedy king Kapil Sharma’s Comedy with Kapil and Family on August 1st, followed by the singing legend Nitin Mukesh on 21st August. Not to mention a Dance party with Bollywood hunk Upen Patel on August 8th.
