Isabelle Kaif to be honored at Miss India-Canada 2014

TORONTO, Canada : Up and coming actress in Hollywood, Isabelle Kaif will be this year’s Guest of Honor at the 24th annual Miss India-Canada Event, presented by Chevrolet, on Saturday, August 16 in association with Zee TV Canada. As a rising star, Isabelle will be presented the prestigious Special Achievement Award for contribution to independent cinema. She is the sister of well-known Bollywood actress, Katrina Kaif.

Isabelle Kaif was raised between India and England. In 2009 she moved to New York City to attend the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. She started out doing theater in New York and working as an assistant director, which led to independent cinema, with titles such as Summum Bonum (East End Film Festival, Official Selection.)
Isabelle now lives in Los Angeles where she continues to work. Recent credits include Jean-Francois Pouliot’s much-anticipated “Dr. Cabbie”, which is set to release September 19 across North America; co-starring Vinay Virmani and Kunal Nayyar.
In addition, Canadian singing sensation, Raghav will perform live at this year’s show and be singing the hit song “All I Need Is You” from the Dr. Cabbie soundtrack. Raghav, is best known for his single “Angle Eyes” which peaked at number 7 in the UK in 2005. At 17, he moved to Los Angeles, California, United States to develop his vocal skills by Seth Riggs who has trained, amongst others, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
A year later he moved to Liverpool, England where he studied at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. In late 2012, Raghav was featured on the track Ishq Shava, from the popular Bollywood movie: “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”. The music was composed by A.R. Rahman, and the film was directed by the late film maker legend, Yash Chopra.
Moreover, this year’s show is presented by Zee TV Canada, who will once again air the event, post show. “This is an event with a rich history and showcases talent and beauty under one roof, and we are proud to support this initiative” said Hari Srinivas, President of Ethnic Channels Group, Zee TV’s Canadian partner.

The 16 finalists have been selected and will compete for the title on-stage on Saturday, August 16 culminating in the crowning of Miss India-Canada 2014.

Here are some of the lesser known facts about Isabelle.
1. Isabelle has six sisters and one brother including Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif. Her mother is a Caucasian of British Nationality, and her father is a Kashmiri of British Nationality.
2. ‘Dr Cabbie’ is Isabel’s debut film, which is co produced by Salman Khan’s Being Human.
3. Isabelle will be featured opposite British actor Kunal Nayyar of The Big Bang Theory fame in ‘Dr Cabbie’.
4. ‘Dr Cabbie’ is about an Indian student who doesn’t get to study medicines in Canada and starts driving cabs in order to survive there. The film also has Vinay Virmani in a key role.
5. Isabelle was supposed to act opposite Vinay Virmani in the film, but the role eventually went to Adriane Palicki.
6. Isabelle underwent an acting course at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute of New York.
7. Interestingly, Isabelle studied at the same acting institute where her sister Katrina’s alleged boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor studied.
8. Once there were reports of Isabel acting with Anil Kapoor’s son Harshwardhan in a short film.
